Most of us get getting some sort of sense of balance through doing; by walking around. But since balance degrades with age, having a great sense of balance to start with can make a huge difference to later quality of life.
So how can most of us improve our children’s impression of balance? One way to make this happen is through balance training so that as always this is most successful if approached while play.
Balance begins early. Babies must balance to help sit up and specially to stand and go, so they can be well prepared to take steps prior to we think.
A pushbike is the perfect balance training tool since it encourages children to play and leads them gently to balance at their own pace. Push bikes are like normal pedal cycles, but have no wheels or chain. They should be just the right size for a child to use so they can sit on the seat with their feet in the ground. At first they walk the bicycle the to sit and push along with their feet, then finally to take their feet from the ground a cruise along, completely balanced on the two wheels. Very little actual ‘teaching’ is involved, children (even very young children) often get the idea within a few hours of use.
There are many models to choose from including both metal and wooden bikes . Often created to mimic a motorbike, it’s a great addition in your child’s fantasy play globe and won’t be seen as a training tool, but as a recognizable plaything. These make great first bikes. In contrast, a metal balance bike looks similar to the a true bike, but is usually far smaller, low to the ground and intensely light weight, with adjustable handlebars along with seat. These toddler bikes have detachable pedals, they can be applied as balance bikes till the child is ready, then they can lead as a first, full pedal cycle.
Riding a bike isn’t only great training in sense of balance, it’s also good physical exercise, so balance bikes can enhance your child’s life at every period. They are a fun toy in childhood as well as teach balance. In adulthood bike riding as well as other activities which require harmony are safer. As your child approaches retirement, a good sense involving balance will help your ex enjoy their well acquired leisure and increase their well being.
